Heavy-metal guitar ruckus, a reggae-centric groove-heavy rhythm section and the turntable
pyrotechnics of one DJ Homicide -- that encompasses Sugar Ray's brand of alternative rock. Coming
together in 1992 from the various bedroom communities in Orange County, California, vocalist Mark
McGrath, guitarist Rodney Sheppard, bassist Murphy Karges, drummer Stan Frazier and Craig "DJ
Homicide" Bullock played around the area and later signed with Atlantic, which released
Lemonade & Brownies in 1995. Sugar Ray
toured almost non-stop during the next two years, opening for the Sex
 Pistols, Cypress Hill and Korn.
  Second album Floored hit the
Top 20 upon release in 1997, led by the
number one modern rock single "Fly."
 14:59 followed in 1999.
